A bottlenose dolphin in Florida waters

On our news this morning was a brief story about the suspected cause of all the recent bottlenose dolphin deaths along the Atlantic Coast, including our own Indian River Lagoon.
The conclusion reached and reported, was that the dolphins had possibly contracted a virus.
Although, my education was in Anthropology, not Biology, my thinking normally leans with the scientific community.
But, not this time!.
I found this story to be suspect, to say the very least.
So, in response to this news story report of the theory deduced by NOAA, my question is this:
Is a virus causing the sea grasses to die as well?
Not sure, but don’t think that plants and animals are affected by the same illnesses, are they?
Has the mega Agency been “encouraged” to diffuse the swell of hostility towards those responsible for polluting, by pushing this virus theory?
Yes, many years ago, a virus did kill many marine animals and cause a huge die off, however, did it kill plant life as well then too?
Just asking, because we have had massive aquatic plant death here, in addition to marine life and birds.
You decide, but how very convenient to attempt to direct the bright lights or glare of a questioning public, away from the more plausible cause of illness and death for our Florida wildlife, both plant and animal alike, with this questionable at best, theory of a virus.
Do ” they” think that we are so naïve, we just will swallow this idea without question and stop blaming the true culprit in this heartbreaking tragedy, which is the out of control pollution, as a result of chemical run off and toxins in our once pristine waters?
As a child of the rebellious ’60’s, may I simply suggest that what was true then, might perhaps be even more relevant today, “question authority. “
At least, couldn’t we get a second opinion?
NOAA: Virus Likely Causing Dolphin Deaths
Good for you..fight the cause for animals and wildlife..don, t let the big companies get away with pollution. Your area is so beautiful and to let such pollution continue is sacrilidge… I wish you well
Your continuing support means so much.
The big polluters have massive fortunes and huge staffs dedicated to their dirty deeds, I am but one and poor~
But, thank you kindly~
Maybe the two of us should, Go get them?
Great idea, but if we are both in jail, who will take care of Breanna?

Good for you Gatorwoman.
Very well stated! Good questions and questions they will hide or simply ignore. The current plan seems to be putting the blame, of whatever is wrong, on the very thing that has been damaged the most by pollution.
Thank you so much for your support and thoughts.
Agree with you completely~

Very good points. I don’t trust any big corporations or any official press releases even (especially?) if they are backed by the government. Before vast polutuion of the seas and global warming messing up tides and seasons, did these awful things happen to porpuses then I wonder?
One of our local news reporters did a great story this weekend about this subject.
He has covered the Space Coast area for more than 30 years and so alertly asked, “have we built one too many condos on the lagoon or ignored the runoffs of toxins and chemicals into it?”
I wrote him a personal note thanking him.
We animals lovers get it, but few with the power to stop it, are willing to admit that the lives of our animals and ecosystems lies completely in their hands.
I understand why greedy money grabbing heartless people don’t give a dam but it’s the lazy ambivalence and lack of thought from so many other regular down to earth people, that I just don’t understand regarding the plight of the planet.
It’s great that at least the local news is challenging rather than propagating what these people are saying.
Yes, you understand completely. We agree.
Sadly, I fear that for way too many humans, it all comes down to this, ” what’s in it for me? “
Yes exactly and ‘But it doesn’t affect me.’ I’ve had so many people say ‘Your into the environment and stuff like that aren’t you, you will care about this story.’ Etc It just baffles me! Ok rant over 😔
Don’t ever change!!!
