Anyone who knows me, knows that I HATE Politics, all Politics!
So for me to be driven, forced and bullied into creating a NEW Blog about this abhorred, loathed and despised subject, something BIG must have happened.
Well it did.
It seems to me that we, the public, the common people, the ones who pay all of the bills for this Government that appears to have more time off, than any other employees in the world, have little, or no say in what Politicians do, or don’t do.
After more than a week of daily phone abuse, yesterday was the very last straw, I could take no more.
Can you say Political ROBO calls?
Spending hours on the phone with various Government Agencies and our Phone Company yielded ZERO results, because you see, no one is breaking any laws.
So, yesterday, I vented my fury over the complete lack of any semblance of control in our own home and began this NEW Political Blog: http://politicalpanderings.wordpress.com/
As you will immediately gather by the graphics and appearance, yes it is somewhat satirical!
My hope is, that if you feel the same way, you will come and lend your voice, to what will be a Word Press version of a Blogging Smack Down, until Election Day in November.
If we are truly a country born of Freedom and Democracy, shouldn’t that include our right to peace in our own homes?
Am I the only one who is tired of being the whipping post for a few powerful politicians, who it seems, answer to no one?
They fear no form of legal reprisal and are running amuck at our expense, literally.
Reading the first post on this NEW Blog, should explain everything.
But for now, Enough Already!
A political junkie here. So of course you had me at “I HATE politics.” It’s a spectator sport, a rough one, and not for the feint of heart. You’re heart WILL be broken, regardless. It (politics) is, however, endlessly interesting – if you sit back and just watch it all unfold – and it’s full of surprises. It helps to to ease my broken heart to just think of it as ‘watching a crazy sport.’
But here’s the thing, I DO believe we live in a wonderful, almost 250-year-old experiment in self-government. It DOES seem to be failing at this moment in history. I DO believe we’ve completely forgotten some basic principles, namely, it was supposed to be a government “Of the People, By the People, and For the People.” If there’s a problem with it, We, the People are part of the problem.
And We the People should fix it. This will be impossible, however, unless we somehow overturn the Supreme Court decision known as Citizens United, and get the money out of politics. (You think you’re governor just supports big business interest? Don’t you think that’s becuz that’s exactly who owns him?) There are some movements to pass a constitutional amendment undoing C.U., and one or more laws that would do the same have been proposed. We should all be supporting these efforts.
I would add, though, that fixing our government of, by and for the people, will remain an impossible dream, if we accept our fate as a society of EXTREME income disparity : with a few holding all the wealth and contributing nothing to the common enterprise. If the ‘few’ continue to refuse to fund such things as education, natural resource protection, preventative healthcare, and the rest of us accept their refusal . . . well I think our wonderful experiment in self-government will remain unfulfilled. To say the least. If we can’t ALL feel SOME commitment to supporting a Common Good, I think we’re gonna fail on that 250-year-old experiment.
Love your post! My human has put this on his answering machine – “Because of the number of political calls we no longer answer unless we recognize the phone number.” And he doesn’t. PS – Don’t you love the hypocritical folks that
talk about freedom then turn around and suggest taking it away in the next paragraph. Income equality is as close as the anti-trust laws which neither of the (ugh – vomit – barf) parties will enforce.
